Mouth Painting I Will Go

Kids’ Tooth Decay SOS # 4 For Parents and Educators

Campbelltown, South Australia (EXPERTCLICK) May 9, 2012 – Dr. Garth Pettit, Oral Health Care Educator, Author of Kindle eBook, How Do I Look After My Kids Teeth? 2 of 12. Kids’ Tooth Decay SOS # 4.

Kids’ Tooth Decay SOS # 4: “My son had a good amount of decay where the top 2 middle teeth overlapped. I didn’t put two and two together that my 4 others kids had nice even spaces inbetween all their front baby teeth and that this could be an issue.” Mum.

Oral disease prevention of tooth decay, gum diseases, bad breath, and stained teeth is infinitely better, for parent and child, than treatment for these oral diseases. I advise Mum to now seek treatment for her child’s decayed teeth and simultaneously institute an oral healthcare, children-friendly education. This SOS and those that follow are intended to inform children’s mothers and educators of the eBooks ‘How Do I Look After My Kids Teeth?’ In particular this SOS cites eBook ‘How Do I Look After My Kids Teeth? 2 of 12 to continue an ideal oral healthcare education for her child.

Diane Donovan’s entire review for How Do I Look After My Kids Teeth? 2 of 12 is as follows:
“Book 2 in the Oral Hygiene series provides GarGar’s original “Mouth Painting I Will Go” song lyrics and provides Visit #2 of 12 lessons involving GarGar The Dentist and his cartoon gang. Here a fun MouthWise Oral Healthcare song is employed to help reinforce the techniques provided in Book 1.

Fun color models in vivid fuchsia outline differences between gums and teeth and provide eye-catching images of teeth while the rollicking rhyming lyrics to the song invite kids and parents to play as they paint.

The little cartoon color animals provided in Book 1 – GarGar’s SmileShine Gang – each represent one of the seven important surfaces inside the mouth, so kids that are able to memorize their favorites will instantly know what surface GarGar is speaking about. These characters are peppered throughout the song, reinforcing basic concepts of dental hygiene.

Parents may wonder how they can use lyrics when there is no accompanying cd or musical notation, but the entire song is on YouTube and anyone can look up TheVideoDentist to hear GarGar sing “Mouth Painting I Will Go”.

Don’t expect musical expertise and polish, but do expect a lively and fun sing-along that holds many lyrics but reinforces, through step-by-step musical enhancement, the entire process of mouth painting.

As with the others in the series, translations are readily available in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese as well as the original English, making these a fine choice for a wide audience.”

Dr Garth Pettit

In July 1996 the Australian author, Dr. Garth Pettit, received a phone call from his daughter who informed him that his 3 year old granddaughter had been diagnosed with mild tooth decay in an upper front baby tooth. They were living many miles apart, two full day trips by car. The doctor was angry with himself and with the lack of any decent oral health education available for children or parents.

Dr. Pettit then decided he would end his five years of retirement from private dental practices. He created a mission: Prevent Oral Diseases in Children. Then he set about seeking employment in the Government sector where he would be involved with children, their parents and their schools. In January 1997 he took up duties as District Dental Officer, East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory of Australia and was based in Nhulunbuy, a very beautiful coastal and bauxite mining town. The author thought it to be ideal for his research.

The Nhulunbuy Dental Clinic staff, which included three dentists, serviced several remote, Aboriginal Communities which were accessible only by aircraft. A fourth dentist responsible to him was based on Groote Eylandt. This dentist’s position was half Government and half private practice.

To concentrate more on his research the author, in early 1999, relocated to this position. It was here, in 1999, where he performed a Strength-Weakness-Opportunity-Threat analysis on the instruction Brush Your Teeth, found it to be out-of-date (1497!) and created a better oral hygine instruction Treat Your Mouth. Later changed that to Treat Your While Mouth and finally changed to Paint Your Mouth….because kids just loved the idea to paint your mouth.

The Author’s most recent five star reviewed titles added to his Amazon account are:
Mothers Teach Foetus All About A Smile. Teaching Oral Disease Prevention
GarGar The Dentist Toddlers Activity Books. Book a
GarGar The Dentist Toddlers Activity Books. Book b
Teaching Oral Disease Prevention. 1 of 12 etc. to 12 of 12
Teaching Oral Disease Prevention. 1 thru 12. TThis combines all previous 12 titles into one convenient title.
