Oral 7 Hygiene Instructions Paint Your Mouth

Paint Your Mouth Is The World’s First Ever Oral Hygiene Instruction To Be Created by a Dentist

Important History of the Oral Hygiene Instruction “Brush Your Teeth”

The hygiene instruction “Brush Your Teeth” is a dental hygiene instruction. It refers only to teeth! It was first created when a Babylonian, in 1500 B.C., invented the first implement to brush teeth with.  He named it a “Chew Stick” and created it very simply by breaking a finger sized branch from a tree, plucking the foliage from it then chewing one end of it to ‘fray’ it. Chew Sticks even now in 2016 are used in many places throughout the world. But there were no patents in those days.

In 1498 a Chinese Emperor created and patented the first Tooth Brush made with bristles. He looked at a Chew Stick said to himself “what if the frayed end of that Chew Stick were at right angle to the ‘handle’ instead of in line with the handle, and what else can I use for handles?”.

Then this Chinese Emperor developed and patented his invention and named it a “Tooth Brush”. For handles he suggested bamboo or bone. For ‘chewed ends’ he suggested bristles – bristles taken from the back of a Siberian Hog’s neck.  His instruction was “Brush Your Teeth with a Tooth Brush”. That was in 1498 and common sense suggests it is probable not relevant now!

The oral hygiene instruction “Paint Your Mouth” originated in 2002 when Dr. Garth Pettit  was researching for his mission to “Prevent Oral Diseases in Children”. The instruction was initially titled “Treat Your Mouth” but later re-titled in early 2007 to “Treat Your Whole Mouth” and a few months later to “Paint Your Mouth” when he asked a classroom of young children ” would you like me to show you ‘how to paint your mouth’?  He had those children’s absolute attention! They were jumping up and down!

Everyone, children and adults will enjoy perfect oral health and improved general health by following the oral hygiene instruction “Paint Your Mouth”. Why? Because it rids the mouth of all harmful plaque from all seven mouth surfaces and replaces those surfaces with helpful plaque. It’s that simple!
